Lucknow:Stone pelting on the 21st ramzan procession (FamousTaboot taken out fromResidence of Hasan Mirza)sparked off violence as two segments of the Muslim community fought with each other in the state capital on wednesday. The incident was reported in Bazarkhala area
following which agitated groups reportedly torched down a dozen shops and took to streets.
To avoid further clashes between the two communities, the police resorted to cane charge. Officials said heavy police force has been pressed into service to keep the situation under control. Minor incidences of stone pelting were still reported from old lucknow.
Alleging injuries on women and children, shia clerics demanded the state government to look into the matter and make safety arrangements to ward off any such mis-happenings as more possessions would take place in the coming months.Sources in local administration told that neither any innocent will be punished nor any culprit would be given liberty. Police assured people that those who tried to break peace in Lucknow will be dealt strictly according to the Law.
However police officials have denied reporting of injuries.
Inspector general of Police (Law and Order) RK Vishwakarma however said that for now the 21st day procession has passed off.
