More than 160 Iraqi Shiite Muslims Martyred, Injured in 15 Explosions

According to Iraq News Agency 185 deaths and injuries registered according to an initial casualty figures of the spate of bombings that hit Shiite areas of Baghdad and other provinces this morning.

According to what was reported by a security source to All Iraq News Agency (AIN) "149 persons mostly Shiite Muslims were killed and injured due to the bombings Baghdad witnessed this morning when 11 car bombs exploded in Sadr City, Habibiya, Sha'ab, Kadhmiya, Hurriya, Toubji, Baya', Shurta Rab'a, Risala and Mahmoudiya neighborhoods."  

"While 14 people have been wounded when car bomb went off in Khamsa Mile neighborhood to the north of Basra, also Muthanna province witnessed the killing and injuring of 19 persons following two car bombs along with three car bombs in Wasit that resulted in killing three people according to an initial count," according to the security source.

A source said "30 car bombs entered Baghdad and the same number in other provinces."


Two car bombs explosions in Samawah Shiite district


A police source in Muthanna province said on Monday, that a number of people were killed and others wounded by two car bombs explosions in Samawah city the center of the province about (270 km south of Baghdad).

“Two car bombs one was parked amid Samawah area and the other in the industrial neighborhood exploded this morning, killing a number of people and wounding many,” said the source.

“The security forces cordoned off the scene of the two incidents and prevented civilians from approaching, while ambulances rushed to transfer the injured to hospital for treatment and the dead to the forensic medicine department,” the source added.


Car bomb explosion in Basra Shia district


Three people were killed and four were wounded on Monday by a car bomb explosion in Basra province, according to a police source.

“The car bomb parked in the center of Basra exploded this morning, killing three people and wounding four others as well as causing material damage to shops and cars near the bombing,” said the source.

“The security forces cordoned off the scene and opened an investigation while transferred the wounded people to the hospital for treatment and the dead to the forensic medicine department,” the source said.


Two car bombs exploded in Wasit Shiite district this morning.  

Security source said "Two car bombs blew up near Baghdad Terminal in Wasit province without causing casualties or material damages."  


13 people killed, injured to the west of Baghdad (Shiite district of Risala)

13 people were killed and injured due to car bomb in Risala neighborhood to the west of Baghdad.  

Security source stated "Car bomb exploded in Risala neighborhood killing a civilian and wounding 12 others."  

"Security force blocked the bombing spot, then transported the injured persons to a hospital and the dead body of the victim to the morgue."


25 persons killed, injured in Shiite district of Hurriya in northern Baghdad 

25 persons were killed and injured when two car bombs went off in Hurriya neighborhood to the north of Baghdad.  

Security source said "Car bomb exploded near Shoes Making plant in Hurrriya neighborhood, thus resulted in killing a person and wounding nine others, while another car bomb exploded in the same neighborhood in Markaz St killing three persons and injuring 12 others."  

"Security forces blocked the explosion spot and transported the injured to a hospital while the dead body has been sent to the morgue," the source added. 


Car bomb blows up in Sha'ab neighborhood northeastern Baghdad 

15 Shiite people were killed and injured when car bomb blew up in Sha'ab neighborhood to the north-east o Baghdad.  

Security source said "Car bomb exploded near Zahra hospital in Sha'ab neighborhood in northeastern Baghdad, killing a civilian and injuring 14 others."  

"Security force rushed to the explosion spot, then transported the injured persons to the hospital while the dead body was sent to the morgue," according to the source.


13 people killed, injured in Shiite area of western Baghdad (Shurta Rab'a)

13 persons were killed and injured due to car bomb explosion in Shurta Rab'a neighborhood to the west of Baghdad.  

Security source stated "Car bomb exploded at Shurta Rab'a crossroad, killing two persons and injuring 11 others."  

"Security force cordoned off the explosion place, then transported the injured to a hospital and the dead bodies to the morgue," the source pointed out.


15 persons killed, injured in Shiite district of Sadr City 

15 Shiite persons were killed and injured when car bomb exploded in Sadr City this morning.

Security source said "Car bomb exploded in Dakhil St. near a refueling point in Sadr City, thus resulted in killing five persons and injuring ten others."

"Security force blocked the explosion spot, then transported the injured to a hospital for treatment while the dead bodies were sent to the morgue," the source added.


Car bomb explodes southern Baghdad (Shiite area of Abu Dsheer)

Car bomb exploded on Monday in Abu Dsheer zone to the south of Baghdad.

Security source said "Car bomb that was parked in Sinaye neighborhood in Abu Dsheer zone in southern Baghdad blew up this morning without knowing the number of casualties and the material damages."
