Islamic Countries to Attend 1st Int'l Medical Congress on Hajj


Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Medical Center for the Hajj Organization said some 17 countries are scheduled to join the first international medical congress on Hajj and pilgrimage on September 5-7 in Tehran.
Ali Riaz, speaking to IQNA, said Oman, Lebanon, Algeria, Ukraine, Nairobi, Philippines, Tatarstan, Turkey, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and Kuwait are expected to send 34 scientific figures for the event.
This is the first time that the conference is set to be held at an international arena, Riza said, adding the last year’s gathering hosted some 2500 Iranian doctors and nurses.
He went on to say that over 3400 people have registered for the international seminar so far, mainly from scientific society.
Riaz added over 220 articles have been sent to the secretariat of the conference so far, from among which 120 approved by the conference’s scientific committee.
80 of the articles are on medical issues and 60 others on nursing spheres, he said adding 30 medical articles and 40 nursing ones are in form of posters.
He also added a two-day symposium would be held at university professor’s level on the sidelines of the conference with the theme of philosophy of Hajj, respiratory and muscle diseases.
He said the conference mainly focuses on common diseases which occur during Hajj season.
The conference mainly seeks boosting sanitation and health services and exchanging experience on Hajj.
