Why does Shia followers held their arms next to their sides during Salaah? | |
Answer: | |
The way of Shia Muslims in Salaah is the Prophetic way of performing Salaah. Folding hands during Salaah was not authentically done by the Prophet Mohammad (SAWA), and that is why we found all Ahlul Bayt (AS) who are the best who know the real Sunnah, never folding their hands during Salaah. Folding hands was a non Muslim practice during their prayers and when the prisoners of war were brought from Persia to Umar Bin al-Khattab, they folded their hands in front of him. He asked them why? They replied that it is their way to show respect. He liked it and ordered to be done while Salaah. Imam Ali (AS) and many Sahaba refused adding any act on Salaah which was no done by the Prophet (SAWA). Many Sunni scholars like Imam Malik, the leader of Maliki sect, and Abdullah Bin al Zubair, Saeed Bin Al Musayyeb, Saeed Bin Jubair, Ataa'. Ibn Juraij, Al-Nakha'i, Hasan al-Basri , Ibn Sireen and many other Sunni scholars did not fold their hands during Salaah. Wassalam. Mohammad al-Musawi http://wabil.info/viewqa.aspx?fi=4962 |
