Where is the Pakistani govt?

On March 16, Saturday, Pakistan created a record when its 'democratically elected' government claimed to have completed its full term of five years. For the government these five years may have passed with a blink of an eye.
Pakistani Shias have been at receiving end for some time now
But do ask those at the recieving end. This blink extended to such an extent that it made the government look blind.

Minorities within Pakistan spent these years with hope hanging on a thread. There was not a single day when Pakistan did not report violence.

In 2011, Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch had said, “Pakistani authorities need to address the severe danger faced by the Shia population with all necessary security measures. They can start by arresting extremist group members responsible for past attacks.”

Nothing happened. Killings continued.

These terrorists mainly belonging to the illeterate Lashkar-e-Jhangvi have targeted the Shia intellectual community. On November 29, 2011, Mohammad Danish Alam, a Shia teacher at Balochistan University was gunned down by unidentified men in the Zarghoonabad suburb of Quetta, Balochistan’s capital. Alam, a science and information technology lecturer, was on his way to the university on his motorcycle when gunmen opened fire and killed him.

On August 30, 2011, gunmen riding a motorbike shot dead Zulfiqar Naqvi, a Shia judge, his driver, Essa Khan, as Naqvi headed to work in Quetta.

Yesterday, it was the turn of noted poet and college principal Sibte Jaffer. He was targetted while on his way  home.

The atrocities against Shias have only risen while this Pakistan government was counting days to complete full term. The kind of attacks that have taken place in Pakistan against the Shias, there hasn't been a government for many, many years.

It's time people of Pakistan get serious about democracy or else watch their country go to a different set of dogs this year.
