یریدون لیطفئوا نورالله بأفواههم والله متم نوره و لوکره الکافرون
“They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths but Allah will perfect His light, though the unbelievers may be averse.”
According to information received through reliable sources, some individuals are planning to hold a ceremony called “The First National Conference on Eastern Mysticism and Development of Tourism” in Shahroud, the city of great and prominent Shia jurisprudents. As per the announcement made regarding this conference, they are going to exhibit Eastern mysticism to foreign tourists (and orientalists) thus preparing ground for creation and establishment of a research center on Eastern mysticism.
It is strange to see some people shaking heads to and fro, embarking on weird actions and reciting ecstatic phrases in the name of mysticism and mystical passion. The offensive words and phrases uttered by them are in no way acceptable to reason and consistent with textual sources even though they are terming it as “love talks”. Some others speak these non-sense and anti-text words to entertain atheists and to finally conclude through logical premises that they must save the creatures from religion, religiosity and religious people.
Actually, the question that arises here is: What is the relationship between this type of mysticism and refutation of the Glorified Creator of the world? Why do people like Mir Fitros, the black-hearted atheist turn out to be Mansoor Hallaj’s lover writing a book in the name of yesterday’s Sufism and today’s mysticism that well demonstrated Sufi intentions and the object of mystical ecstasy and joy.
Has Imam Ali’s mysticism (irfan) which condemns the atheists and deniers of the One God in all ages and over the centuries and which considers atheism and disbelief to be a sign of irrationality and ignorance become a point of interest for these backward and negligent people?
لو فکروا فی عظیم القدره و جسیم النعمه لرجعوا الی الطریق و خافوا عذاب الحریق.
(Had they pondered over the greatness of His power and the vastness of His bounty they would have returned to the right path and feared the punishment of the Fire; but (their) hearts are sick and eyes are impure.) [Nahjul Balaghah, sermon 185]
Does the mysticism of the Chief of Martyrs, the Master of Free men (a.s.) manifested in Dua Arafah as a drop from an ocean of knowledge pave the way to infidelity and negation of truth?
If the forerunners’ of mysticism and those people who paved the way to atheism and infidelity, reached the Infallibles and the Prophet (pbuh) and if it had an iota of the fragrance of the divine knowledge, it would not have been approved of and okayed by the arrogant powers, the infidels and atheists. If Sufism had the least connection with the guidance of the Guided Guides i.e. the Infallible Leaders (Imams) – peace be upon them – and was characteristic of divine light, the light of the heavens and the earth, the orientalists (people like the French Massignon) who are not but agents of the Western powers would have never mentioned its name and its followers.
As a matter of fact, why do Sufism and mysticism among these deviant people and their leaders find so passionate lovers who leave no stone unturned to materialize Sufism and who walk from the West all the way to cities like Shahroud of Iran while uttering “hoo hoo!”?
If they were, in fact, craving for knowledge and if orientalism was the career of the nobles and the faithful, why don’t they write and speak of the lofty teachings of the Commander of the Faithful (a.s)?
What does it mean when passion to such an extent is demonstrated towards Sufism which has been rejected by the Infallibles but approved of by the arrogant powers and imperialists?
Disbelief and treachery of most of the orientalists such Massignon and indoor materialists are known to informed people but the question which must be taken notice of and carefully answered is: What is in Sufism and mysticism that the atheists and orientalists are so interested in?
Are permissiveness, licentiousness, escape from religious constraints, promiscuity, apathy, intoxication and negligence of the truth in the body of Sufism that cause attraction and interest for the orientalists and arrogant powers?
The laughable proposal which is seen in the advertisements of the said conference is ‘creation of a research center for Eastern mysticism’. Obviously the goal of this research center is opposed to the Shiite jurists and scholars’ sacred goals. That is because prominent Shiite scholars and those who protect Islamic beliefs are basically opposed to “Bayazid” and “Khirqani” line of teaching; they are rejected and considered as outcasts as per the traditions of the Infallibles – peace be upon them.
Shia Islamic seminaries are proud of the teachings of the Holy Prophet and Pure Imams (peace be upon them) who are the sources of true mysticism and real light.
Based on Hadith Thaqalayn and lots of other traditions, Shia’s prominent scholars are fond of the Book of Allah and progeny of the Messenger of Allah surrendering their heart and mind to the mysticism of Nahjul Balaghah, Sahifa Sajjadiyah and Dua Arafah.
Shia jurisprudents examining the religions and denominations as well as the Quranic verses regarding Jews e.g. “Their effort is for corruption in the land”, “those who have deserved wrath” and “they change the words from their (right) places” are of the view that it is a Jewish agenda to spread the Sufi cult, wayfaring in the sense of lethargy and apathy and to propagate intoxication and ignorance. The curve of smile on oreintalists’ lips at Sufi leaders is translated into “divide and rule” policy.
According to the verse of the Holy Quran, “The rebellion and disbelief of many of them will be intensified against you” their agents will never be happy with “what has been revealed” which is the leadership of the Infallibles – peace be upon them – and they will continue to fabricate religion, propagate superstition, create discord and disparity among Muslims and block the light of the school of wilayah and Imamate (leadership).
In conclusion, this conference which is underway in the country of the Imam of Time (atf) and whose constitution is based on Imamiyah jurisprudence especially the righteous Imam, Imam Ja’far Sadiq – peace be upon him – in the name of Islam and Islamic teaching is absolutely despised by Allah and the Imam of Age – may Allah hasten his reappearance. Such a conference will entail cultural, moral and social evil and the holders of the conference as well as those who are silent shall be held responsible by God, the Exalted.
