Students from 69 countries are attending the competition, which is held at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Higher Education Center.
The Olympiad is held in the categories of Quran memorization (different levels), recitation, preaching, prayers and supplications.
Hossein Assadi, director general of the university’s Quran and Hadith department said that the women’s section of the Olympiad is hosted by Bint-ul-Huda Institute in Qom.
He noted that Grand Ayatollah Sobhani will be present at the closing ceremony on Monday, January 28.
Mr. Assadi added that the grand source of emulation will address the ceremony, delivering a lecture titled “Quran, Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), Pivots of Unity”.
There will be other lectures by Ayatollah Haeri Shirazi and Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mehdi Baqeri as well as Quran recitation sessions with the presence of prominent Iranian Quran reciters.
He added that a number of the university’s new Quranic and Hadith publications will be unveiled during the Olympiad.
According to Mr. Assadi, a number of top Quran experts, including Shahriar Parhizgar, Master Shahidi, Hanifi, Mousavi Baladeh and other will serve as members of the competition’s jury panel.
He went on to say that students from countries like Turkey, Afghanistan, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, China, the Philippines, Ugandan, etc have taken part in the international event.
