Que: Are actions such as tatbeer, beating oneself with chains, walking on hot coals, crawling to the holy shrine considered to be acceptable ceremonies of mourning for Imam Hussain (as) considering that many of the enemies of the Shia school of thought use these practices to demean and mock us?
Ans:
The practices which you have mentioned are not only considered to be of the ceremonies and rituals—they are considered to be the most honorable of them. The enemies of Allah (swt), the holy prophet, and the ahlul-bait (as) will never be satisfied as long as you are Shia and dedicated to the ahlul-bayt school of thought and just as they demean these actions, they also demean and look down upon crying for Imam Hussain (as) and upon being loyal to him and visiting the shrines of the ahlul-bayt (as).
Is it permissable to do qama and zanjeer zani hitting yourself with sword and knives?
ReplyDeleteBismahe Subhana
It is permitted unless Maula Imam Hussain’s (as) and the Ahl-ul-Bayt’s persecution are considered as propaganda or if he is not allowed by his doctor because it might result in death or losing of a body part. Matam-qama or matam-zanjeer should not be done if he is settled in a part of the world where people due to their ignorance or lack of knowledge about Imam Hussain (as) after watching such matam are turned away from Imam Hussain (as). Therefore it should be avoided in front of such people.
