Ban anti-Islam film immediately: Akhilesh Yadav to Centre

LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked the Congress led UPA government to ban the controversial film " Innocence of Muslims".

In a letter to the prime minister Manmohan Singh, Yadav has requested to take steps towards blocking the films content on you tube and other websites as the film hurts the sentiments of the Muslim community and has caused widespread resentment.

Earlier, a delegation of the Islamic Centre of India led by the Imam of Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali met the chief minister and demanded that the state government should request the Centre to block film. The chief minister while assuring members of the delegation said the state government will take every possible step in this regard.

The controversial film has been widely criticised for its content and various protests have been staged by the Muslim community demanding that the film be banned.
