General Secretary of Majlis Ulema-e-Hind, Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawwad Naqvi, said here Monday, “Thousands of innocent people, including women and children were butchered and millions of displaced, this constitute not only human rights violations, but are crimes against humanity.”
And yet the international bodies, who call themselves “champions of humanity” are watching as mute spectatre, it is most regrettable, he added.
Strongly condemning the barbaric attack on the Muslims in Myanmar, Jawwad urged the world community not only to condemn it in strongest words but play a positive and constructive role for the human rights of minority Muslims there.
He further said that the pain and suffering the recent incidents have caused to a large number of people have saddened not only to Muslims but all peace loving people around the globe. The ethnic conflict which occurred is unacceptable and must come to a stop.
Jawwad, who is also the Friday Prayer Leader of historic Asafi Mosque at Lucknow, noted that this calamity has affected thousands of our people. It is the responsibility of the UN to do everything possible to bring relief to them and to rehabilitate those who have been displaced from their homes.
“The Government in Myanmar had not been allowing Muslims to profess their religion and restrictions had been imposed on religious communities in the country. This cannot be tolerated as this is not possible to suppress any religious community anywhere in the world,' noted Shi'a Scholar.
He further noted that the way the innocent people were attacked and brutally murdered is highly condemnable.
Urging the Indian Government to take stand, interfere and pressurise the Government of Myanmar to immediately stop the genocide. “Failing with (performing this humanitarian task) we will carry out protests all across the country against these brutality,' warned Jawwad.
Turning on to the shocking silence of Buddhist leader Dalai Lama and Nobel Prize Winner Aaung San Suu Kyi, Indian religious scholar said it is shameful that they have not uttered a word against the massacre, while they called have always themselves the leaders of humanity.
Jawwad also demanded the Muslim world to break the silence, protest against the killings and snap ties with Myanmar.
