Eid Fitr to be celebrated across India on Monday

“The moon sighting committee in Delhi, Royat Hilal committee today evening announced that the new moon of the Eid-ul-Fitr was not sighted. Sunday will be the last day of fasting in the country followed by Eid on Monday, 20th August.” said a release issued here.

The meeting of Royat Hilal committee was held under the Presidentship of spiritual leader of historical Shahi Masjid at Fatehpuri in walled city of the national capital, Delhi.

Meanwhile, Muslims in Kerala will celebrate Eid Fitr on Sunday, 19th August.

The festival of Eid is the culmination of the month-long period of fasting during which practicing Muslims around the globe refrain from food and water from dawn to dusk.
