Rich tributes were paid to noted Shia scholar and former president Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Moin-ul Islam, Hujjatul Islam wal-Muslimeen, Sheikh Mehdi Hussain Najafi Kashmiri on his 17th death anniversary.
Thousands of people from different walks of life paid glowing tributes to Allama Najafi at a function at central Imambara Khandah in central Kashmir's Budgam district.
Renowned scholars of the Valley threw light on different aspects of Allama's life and praised his scholarly and missionary contributions.
Speaking on the occasion, the successor of Allama Najafi and head of Jammu and Kashmir Pairwan-e- Vilayat, Moulana Sibte Muhammad Shabir Qumi, while referring to various problems and challenges facing the Muslim world, urged the Muslims to pray for the success of Islamic awakening movement.
