1st Rabiul Awwal: Martydom Of Mohsin Ibne Ali (as)

Who is Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.)? ( QURANIC AND HISTORICAL EVIDENCES)

Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.) is the third son of Ali (a.s.) and Fatimah (s.a.) after Hasan (a.s.) and Husain (a.s.). He is also referred to as Mushabbar which is also the name of Prophet Haroon Ibn Imran’s (a.s.) third son. He was no more than six months fetus at the time of the attack. (Al-Hidaayat al-Kubra, p. 407, Behaar al-Anwaar, vol. 53 p. 19)
Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.) was the least involved in the business of politics and machinations which the attack on Fatimah’s (a.s.) was all about. He was not concerned with anything that transpired on that day and no one who had any grouse with Ali (a.s.) and Fatimah (s.a.) had an argument against Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.). Even those who debate about the infallibility of Ali (a.s.) and Fatimah (s.a.) fall silent when the infallibility of an unborn child is raised because they have no answer.
Therefore, although the entire attack on Fatimah’s (s.a.) house was illegitimate, the attack on Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.) in many ways was the most illegitimate part of the attack.

Just like this vicious attack laid the foundation of another murderous attack 50 years later in Karbala, it is perhaps Mohsin Ibn Ali’s (a.s.) martyrdom to safeguard the infallibility of his parents (a.s.) that inspired his nephew Ali Ibn Husain (al-Asghar) to wage a battle against the enemies in Karbala to safeguard the infallibility of his father Imam Husain Ibn Ali (a.s.). Imam Husain (a.s.), of course, is unique among the oppressed ones as he is the only one present on the scenes of both the attacks – one on his parents and brother and the second on his children, nephews and another brother.
It is perhaps the powerful influence of Mohsin Ibn Ali’s (a.s.) martyrdom that has led some Muslims to deny his death in the attack, attributing it to other causes. This is clearly a campaign based on misinformation or lack of information that is similar to the campaign to deny the attack on Fatimah’s (s.a.) house altogether. The attack on Fatimah’s (s.a.) house has no justification whatsoever and therefore the only way out is to deny it altogether.
Of course, the biggest blow to the deniers is the martyrdom of Fatimah (s.a.) and Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.) in the aftermath of the attack. It is widely documented that both (a.s.) were martyred as a result of the attack; Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.) instantly and Fatimah (s.a.) a few days later.

Documentary evidence of Mohsin Ibn Ali’s (a.s.) Martyrdom

There are several well-documented narrations to establish Mohsin Ibn Ali’s (a.s.) martyrdom from the attack on Fatimah’s (s.a.) house. Those interested in seeking the truth of the matter should not be surprised to find scores of scholars and historians from across eras and predispositions (Shia and Sunni) record the martyrdom of Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.) in a manner that puts the issue beyond doubt.

A) Mohsin Ibn Ali’s (a.s.) Martyrdom in the Holy Quran

Since the first place to look for evidence of a belief or concept is in the Noble Quran, we must turn to this divine book for evidence of Mohsin Ibn Ali’s (a.s.) martyrdom. And evidence of this event appears in the 8th and 9th verses of Surah Takweer (81):
And when the female infant buried alive is asked, for what sin she was killed.’
Mufazzal Ibn Umar, the respected companion and special deputy of Imam Sadiq asked Imam (as) – What is your opinion about these verses?
Imam (a.s.) informed: “O Mufazzal, by Allah, ‘Maudato’ (i.e. infant) in this verse means Mohsin and surely he is from us and not others. Those who claim otherwise are lying.
Then Imam (a.s.) elaborated (on the events on the Day of Resurrection) – Fatimah, the daughter of the Allah’s Messenger will supplicate – O Allah fulfill Your Promise and Your Pledge with me with regards to those who oppressed me, usurped my rights, struck me and distressed me with regards to all my children.
On hearing this, all the angels inhabiting the seven heavens, the carriers of the Throne and all those residing in space and the inhabitants of the earth and under the layers of the earth will lament and wail in front of Allah. Then, none will remain from those who oppressed us and killed us and those who were pleased at our oppression except that he will be killed.
(Behaar al-Anwaar, vol. 53 pp. 23-24)

Mohsin Ibn Ali’s (a.s.) Martyrdom in Supplications

Apart from the Holy Quran, supplications of the infallible guides (a.s.) are reliable sources of beliefs and concepts. The martyrdom of Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.) finds mention even in supplications. In the renowned Supplication of Sanamay-e-Quraish, we implore Allah to curse the oppressors (of Ahle Bait a.s.) for every fetus that they have destroyed.
(Misbaah al-Mutahajjiid by Shaykh Taqi Al-Deen Ibraheem al-Kaf’ami (r.a.) p. 731)
Over here, the reference to the oppressors who attacked Fatimah’s (s.a.) house resulting in Mohsin Ibn Ali’s (a.s.) martyrdom is obvious.

C) Mohsin Ibn Ali’s (a.s.) Martyrdom from Sunnah and History

1. Allamah Muhammad Baqer Majlisi (r.a.) records in Behaar al-Anwaar vol. 43 p. 171 on the authority of Abu Baseer who relates from Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s.), ‘Fatimah’s (s.a.) death resulted from being pierced by the sword which claimed (the unborn) Mohsin’s life. The perpetrator of this crime was Qunfuz, who was acting on his master Umar’s explicit command…
2. Ibn Shahr Aashob al-Sarvi al-Mazandarani in vol. 3 p. 132 records from Al-Maarif of Ibne Qutaybah al-Dainoori (reputed Sunni historian) – “The following were Fatimah’s children – Hasan, Husain, Zainab, Umme Kulsum and Mohsin Ibn Ali who was killed by Qunfuz Adawi (i.e. from Bani Adi, the same tribe as Umar Ibn Khattaab).”
3. Masoodi records in Isbaat al-Wilaayah p. 142 – “They attacked Fatimah’s (s.a.) house. They crushed the Chief of All Women behind the door so violently that it resulted in the miscarriage of Mohsin.”
4. Muhammad al-Shahrastaani reports in Al-Milal wa al-Nehal vol. 1 p. 57 (Beirut Edition) – “Umar struck Fatimah violently in the abdomen (on the Day of Allegiance) so much so that she fell on her abdomen (resulting in the infant’s death).”
5. Abu Abdillah Shams al-Deen al-Zahabi records in Mizaan al-Etedaal vol. 1 p. 139 – “Undoubtedly Umar kicked Fatimah so much so that it led to Mohsin’s miscarriage.”
6. Allamah Khalil Ibn Aybak al-Safadi in Al-Waafi be al-Wafiyyaat vol. 6 p. 17 records – “The Motazelah sect is of the view that on the Day of Allegiance Umar undoubtedly struck Fatimah so much so that Mohsin was killed.”
7. Abdul Qadir al-Tamimi al-Baghdadi in Al-Farq bain al-Faraaq p. 107 records on the same lines as above.
8. Sadr al-Deen Ibraheem Ibn Sa’d al-Deen Muhmmad al-Hammuee in Al-Faraaed al-Simtain vol. 2 p. 35 records on the authority of Ibne Abbas who heard the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) prophesize – ‘…it is as if I see grief and anxiety entering my daughter’s house, her respect being violated, her rights being usurped, her inheritance being denied to her, her unborn being miscarried and (in this moment of distress) she will call out – O Muhammad, but no one replies to her pleas.’

Conclusion
An unbiased view of the various references from the Majestic Quran, the Prophet’s Sunnah and history recorded by scholars and historians across eras and sects (viz. Sunni and Shia) should make it obvious to those seeking the truth that Mohsin Ibn Ali (a.s.) was martyred by the mob that attacked Fatimah’s (a.s.) house only a few days after the Prophet’s (s.a.w.a.) demise.

Hadrat Fatimah Zahra (A.S.), the Greatest Woman

This Great Lady was the only daughter of the Holy Prophet (saww) and Hazrat Khadijah. She was born in Makkah on Friday, 20th Jamdi-ul-Akhar in the 5th year after the declaration of Prophethood (615 AD).
She was married to the great personality, the First Imam, Imam Ali (as). The marriage ceremony took place on Friday, 1st Zilhajj 2 AH.
As a daughter, she loved her parents very much. As a wife, she was very devoted. As a mother, she cared for and brought up wonderful children that they have left marks on the face of the world.

On Fasting She Said:
Imam Sadiq (as) says on the authority of his forefathers that J. Zahra (as) had said that: "The man who is observing a fast would not gain anything, when his tongue, ears, and limbs are not safe from sin."

House hold affairs:
In the whole world, there was only one house that was free from impurities and that house was of Imam Ali (as) and Hadrat Zahra (as). She being the leader of all the women of the world, she was the torchbearer of the ideals and character of woman hood.
Hadrat Zahra (as) never used to take household duties as a chore for a woman. In the performance of domestic duties, she had faced many obstacles and hardships.
The Infallible daughter of the Holy Prophet (saww) was conscious of her responsibilities and aware that a wife could shape the direction of her husband's activities. Her thinking was that the home is the place of refuge. A place of peace for a man, when he comes back tired from his struggles and dealings with the outside world. A place to re-strengthen his energy and also to gain in him fresh confidence and determination, so that he could be able to tackle his duties.
Imam Musa al-Kadhim (as) says: "The crusade of a woman is to have concern and regard for the husband."
Extracts of Hadrat Zahra's (as) Sermon
Praise be to Allah, I am thankful to Him for the capabilities that He has given me.
I bear witness that there is no God but Allah who is without a parallel and no one is His partner. This is a call, the essence of which is love and purity. That Allah who cannot be seen with our eyes; our tongue is unable to state His praise. He created all without any earlier precedent.
I bear witness that my father, Messenger of Allah was the slave of Allah and His messenger. He was chosen before he was sent. He was awarded this position before his coming into being.
'O servants of Allah, you are responsible to His "Orders and Prohibitions". His religion and His Revelation. You are, the representative of Allah! and a preacher from His side! And the protector of Allah's right is in your midst [Ali] He who protected the one who brought the testament of Allah to you.
Whatever I am telling, its beginning and its end is the same. I do not indulge into contradictory talk.
Whatever, I am telling is stark truth. I do not practise any wrong.
When Allah chose from the dwell of messengers His Messenger (saww), He selected for him the honored place of chosen ones. No sooner than it was done, the discord and envy that was in the hearts, manifested amongst you. The veil of religion was turned up. Those who have lost the correct path, started opening their mouths.
Unknown persons started to show off. Slogans in the interest of falsity were raised, and a conspiracy spread in the society.
The Devil came out of his hole and called you to his side, because he found you waiting for his call and be fooled. He invited you to stay and ignited the fire of anger, the reflection of which became apparent on your face.
This was the reason that you marked somebody's camel apart from your own, and you entered into somebody's river side. You started searching for what was not yours. Finally you started usurping the Government when not many days had passed since the demise of the Prophet (saww). Our woes and wounds were still bleeding, and even the Prophet (saww) was not buried, that you advanced an excuse saying that "A mischief has been averted".
Can there be any greater mischief than the one that has overtaken you. Yes of course hell has taken them in its folds.
This action was not expected from you, What are you doing? Where are you going? When the book of Allah is present in your midst everything in that is glittering and all its signs are fully clear as a Crystal. Its prohibition are apparent and clear, and all orders graphically clear, but you have put them behind your back. Have you turned your face from them? Or you are aiming at something else?
Alas! it's to be highly regretted that tyrants have adopted dirty ways, instead of taking up a Qur'anic path.
You have suddenly flared up the fire of mischief, and fanned its flames. You have assented to the talk of the Satan, who was misleading you. You have started to extinguish the light of the Religion of Allah and started obliterating the traditions of the Prophet (saww), and in the pretext of the froth of fermenting milk, you have silently sipped it all.
You were bent on confining the family and progeny of the Prophet (saww) in a corner. We preferred to observe patience, but with sword hanging on our neck and a spear waiting to make a thrust in our chest.
How wonderful it is that you think that the Almighty Allah has not granted us the right of inheritance, and that we will not get the inheritance of the Prophet (saww). Are you following the rules of the Age of illiteracy. For believers, no decision is better than the decision of Allah.
Are you ignorant of these problems? Yes, you are fully aware of them. The fact is clear as a sun. You know that I am the daughter of the Prophet (saww).
O' Muslim brethren! Is my inheritance going to be snatched by force? O' son of Qahafa answer me, does Qur'an say that you get your fathers' inheritance and I should not get my fathers' inheritance. Have you purposely disowned the Book of Allah; and have cast it behind your back. Whereas Qur'an says: Sulaiman got his father's (inheritance); Dawood got his fathers'. Regarding Yahya bin Zakariyya He said, "O' Allah: grant me a son, who could be my Successor and of the progeny of Yaqoob."
Have you formed an idea that I will not get my parents inheritance?
Did Allah, reveal a special verse for you, striking out my father from its purview, or you say two persons professing the same religion did not have the right to inherit each other's (property). Is mine and my father's religion not one?
Or do you treat an average follower of Qur'an better than my father and cousin. If it is that case, take my inheritance like a saddled camel waiting to be taken advantage of. Ride it. But bear in mind that I will meet you on the day of rising and will put up my demand.
What an excellent day it would be when Allah will adorn the seat of Justice and Muhammed Mustafa (saww) would be a plaintiff.

Martyrdom Of Fatimah az-Zahra (Peace be Upon her)

Hadrat Fatimah did not survive more than seventy-five day after the demise of her father. she breathed her last on the 14th jumada'l - ula 11 AH. Before her demise she bequeathed the following as her will to Imam 'Ali: 1. O ` Ali, you will personally perform my funeral rites. 2. Those who have displeased my should not be allowed to attend my funeral. 3 .My corpse should be carried to the graveyard at right. Thus Imam ` compliance with her will , performed all the funeral rites and accompanied exclusively by her relatives and sons carried her at night to Jannatu l-Baqi, where she was laid to rest and her wishes fulfilled.
The Holy Prophet said: "whoever injures (bodily or sentimentally ) Fatimah, injures me ; and whoever injures me injures Allah; and whoever injures Allah practices unbelief. O Fatimah ! If your wrath is incurred, it incurs the wrath of Allah; and if you are happy, it makes Allah happy too." M.H. shakir writers: Fatimah, the only daughter of the Holy prophet of Islam, was born I Mecca on 20 Th. Jumada ' th - thaniyah 18 BH. The good and noble lady Khadijah and the apostle of Allah bestowed all their natural love, care and devotion on their lovable and only child Fatimah, who in her turn was extremely fond of her parents. The princess of the House of the Prophet, was very intelligent, accomplished and cheerful. Her sermons, poems and sayings serve, as an index to her strength of character and nobility of mind. Her virtues gained her the title " Our Lady of light. she was tall, slender and endowed with great beauty, which caused her to be called " az - Zahra' " ( the Lady of Light). she was called az - Zahra' because her light used to shine among those in Heaven. After arriving in Medina, she was married to ` Ali , in the first year hijrah, and she gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Her children, Hasan, Husayn, Zaynab and umm kul-thum. are well - known for their piety , goodness and generosity Their strength of chracter and actions changed the course of history. The Holy Prophet said, " Fatimah is a peace of my heart". He would go out to receive his doughtier whenever she come from her husband's house.
Every morning on his way to the Mosque, he would pass by Fatimah's house and say: " as-salamu ` alaykum ya ahlul-Bayti`n-nubuwwah wa ma` dani ` r - risala " ( peace be on you O the Household of prophet hood and the source of Messengership) Fatimah is famous and acknowledged as the " sayyidatu 'n-nisa'i ' l-alamin " ( Leader of all the women of the world for all times ) because the Prophethood of Muhammad would not have been everlasting without her. The Prophet is the perfect example for men, but could not be so for women. For all the verses revealed in the Holy Qur'an for women, Fatimah is the perfect model, who translated every year into action. In her lifetime, she was a complete woman, being Daughter, wife and Mother at the some time.
Muhammad during his lifetime, gave Fatimah a gift of very extensive farm lands, famous as Fadak, which were documented in her name, as her absolute personal property. An heiress to the remainder of her mother`s wealth, a princess who was the only daughter of the holy prophet who was also a ruler, a lady whose husband was the conqueror of Arab tribes and second only to her father in and position, Fatimah could have led a luxurious life. But in spite of her wealth and possessions, she worked, dressed, ate and lived very simply . she was very generous; and none who come to her door, when away empty handed. Many times she gave away her all and herself went without food. As a daughter, she loved her parents so much , that she won their love and regard to such and extent that the Holy prophet used to rise, whenever she come near him As a wife, she was very devoted.

She never asked ` Ali for anything in her whole life. As a mother , she cared for and brought up wonderful children; they have lift their marks on the face of the world , which time will not be able to eraze. The death of the Apostle, affected her very much and she was very sad and grief- striken and wept her heart out crying all the time. unfortunately, after the death of the prophet, the government confiscated her famous land of Fadak and gave it to the state. Fatimah was pushed behind her him door ( when they attacked the house of ` Ali and took him to force him accept the caliphate of Abu Baker), so that the child , she was carrying was hurt and the baby boy Muhsin was still born.
Her house was set on fire by the Government. The tragedy of her father's death and the unkindness of her fathers`s followers, were too much for the good , gently and sensitive lady and she breathed her last on 14 Th. Jumada ` l - ula 11 AH, exactly seventy - five days after the death of her father, the Holy prophet of Islam. Fatimah died in the prime of her life at the age of eighteen, and was buried in jannatu 'l-Baqi ` Medina.

Part of this book is on the role of Hazrat Fatemeh (AS). According to the book the whole life of Hazrat Fatemeh (AS) was spent to stand against the hostile strategies of the ruling government when as the last resort, the Lady, demanded her funeral to be held privately so that no one could know the spot of her burial so that remained as a rejection to recognize the then ruler of Muslim world.

Sheikh Yasser al-Habib Calls on Hassan Naserulah to Denounce Demashqyah

On the eve of the first night of the month of Ramadan, Sheikh Yasser al-Habib denounced the vile statement that was made by the Lebanese Nasibi Abdul Rahman Demashqyah and expressed his total condemnation.
That (Ma’aboon), the one who suffers from a hyper or rife itchiness in the inward linings deep inside his rectum, abused both the Lady of Universe Fatima Peace be upon her and her husband the Commander of the Faithful peace be upon him.
Sheikh al-Habib addressed, in his improvised speech, all those pseudo turbans in the Shia world that joined forces two years ago against him. Shia fake turbans went out of their ways in defence of Aisha after the news spread that a party was organised in London commemorating the anniversary of her End.
Sheikh al-Habib wondered what has happened to the so-called Shia scholars who defended Aisha. What happened to their voices? Why do not they say something to the one who seriously committed an offence to Fatima peace be upon her?
Sheikh Yasser requested the Shia ordinary believers to compare the levels of reactions then and now. Sheikh al-Habib wondered if those silent Shia leadership voices do possess a full share in Shiaism or not?
He reminded the Shia at large that the vast majority of the Shia Umma does not abide by the pure Shia Pathway. He pleaded with the Shia not to resent his words.
Sheikh al-Habib pointed to the noise levels made when he put Aisha’s honour under the lime light on the one hand; and the slumber of the Shia when the honour of Sayeda Narjis peace be upon her got vilified by Salafi Nawasib figures in various Media venues in the Middle East like Safa and Wesal Satellite TV Channels.
He added that some Shia turbans do not find it necessary to get infuriated for Fatima peace be upon her honour even. Sheikh Yasser prayed that Allah Al Mighty will gather those Shia with their mother Aisha in Judgment Day.
Sheikh Yasser al-Habib referred also to the account made by the one called Hassan Naserulah who alleged that the Sheikh was “an agent used and employed by British Intelligence”.
Sheikh al-Habib prayed and supplicated earnestly to Allah Al Mighty through the esteemed status of Fatima peace be upon her. He said in response to the sinful allegation of Naserulah: “Oh Allah! If what he accused me with is true, if I were truly an agent of anyone or employed by British Intelligence Services, Oh Allah then do Gather me with Qunfuth, Shimer and Aisha on Judgement Day”!
Sheikh Yasser stressed that every single Shia person should know the implications and consequences of that Duaa/ prayer he had just made against himself.
Shia should realise only truthful, honest and faithful people are able to make such prayers against themselves because they are certain of their inner decency. He finished off the earlier prayer by adding: “Oh Allah, if those accusations were false and they lied about me, then Oh Allah gather them with Qunfuth, Shimer and Aisha”!
Sheikh al-Habib was flabbergasted. He could not refrain from expressing his agony caused by those Shia leaders who are ready to cast aside all signs of evidence and legitimise for themselves lying, slandering, defaming and smearing.
Sheikh al-Habib added: “let us wait and see if the (Salahudeen of our Time) would ever get enraged and up in arms for Fatima Al Zahra peace be upon her. The one who outrageously uttered the words of unbelief and affronted Fatima peace be upon her is Lebanese himself. Naserulah is equally Lebanese.
During his last sermon, Naserulah was quoted saying: “my dealings are only with the Lebanese, do not come and talk to me about the Shia figures who disrespect the symbols of our brothers, those who live in London and are employed by British Intelligence”.
Sheikh al-Habib urged Naserulah to validate his pride and dignity. Naserulah is supposed to push his political and religious allies from the Bakri sect to apprehend Demashqyah in support of Al Zahra peace be upon her. After all, Naserulah is the one who offered the so called (Covenant of Honour) among the Lebanese to ease sectarian tensions, though terms and conditions are by far in favour of the Bakris.
Naserulah deal for them was on the line of: no Shia in Lebanon will speak ill of Bakri figures, Bakris can continue speaking and fully praising their own figures at schools, Media and so on.
In other words, no Shia public figure in Lebanon has the right to condemn the acts of Aisha, Omer , Mouwaya etc in public or private forums and the rest of Bakris can praise, pay tribute to and show appreciation to the enemies of Ahlu Al Bayet peace be upon them all as they wish and as per normal. That was his deal for them!
